2023

Being the last photography project of the year, this proposal was devided in 3 stages. Below is a description of what we were proposed to do.

1. Single light studio photography
A portrait, a full body image and a dead nature element with a single light source should be taken. You can only use a studio light and no other light source. You can use any light shaping device on your light source, and you can use any other light shaping tool (reflector/diffuser etc.) to add control to your installation.

2. Multiple light studio photography
A portrait, a full body image, and a dead nature element with multiple light sources should be performed. You should use at least two studio lights along with any combination of light shaping devices, and you can use any other light shaping tools (reflector/diffuser etc.) to add control to your setup.

3. Studio photography series
A series of 5 studio photographs must be taken. Your photographs can explore a genre, theme, narrative, or concept of your choosing. This series must be shot in a studio, and you are free to use any lighting equipment and tools that allow you to execute your vision.

Here on this page, I decided only to share this third part of the work, being the interesting one, in my opinion.

My work

In the third part of the work, the series of 5 photographs with free theme, I decided to assign a mysterious, yet beautiful, aesthetic to the photos.

The theme is about looking inside us, that's why the tittle Innerself where the model is covered up and uses a little mirror in a way similar to question herself like "who am I?". The scenario represents a kind of ritual, reflecting what is inside each of us where we seek our own identity, and many times we cover ourselves up with something that maybe is not our truest version.

After this whole reflexion ritual the story ends with the model freeing herself from the "cape" that didn't let her live the way she wanted and how she truly was.
