Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora – 2025
Organized by the Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora theater company, À Flor da Pele (On the Surface of the Skin) project is inspired by the work of portuguese artist and poet Julio Saúl Dias.

"These signature projects leverage a broad artistic language and aim to grant creatives the freedom to challenge themselves artistically and dramaturgically, as well as in the exploration of interpretation, puppetry, figure theater, and object theater. These creations are a fundamental reflection of their creators' concerns.
We decided on this designation based on the genesis of our name, Mandrake, a plant often associated with a certain mysticism. The root is also the origin of the structure, which, in a multifaceted way, delves into various paths. We are a creative team that ponders and analyzes its personal concerns and also faces various challenges that lead to discoveries that cement the art of theater, and more specifically, the art of puppetry.
Twenty-one years later, this form and figure emerged, a long process of discovery. We explored collective creations, invited directors, and gave voice to the artists who make up the artistic core of the structure. From the latter, we believe we have achieved a more enlightening way of indicating the potential paths and pathways of a collective composed of individual choices.

"Projetos de autor que potenciam uma ampla linguagem artística e pretendem garantir a liberdade aos criativos para se desafiarem plástica e dramaturgicamente, bem como na exploração da interpretação, na exploração da arte da marioneta, do teatro de figuras e do teatro de objetos. Estas criações são o reflexo fundamental das preocupações dos seus criadores.
Decidimos por esta designação através da génese do nome que nos dá origem, a Mandrágora, uma planta que muito é associada a um certo misticismo. A raiz é também o ponto de origem da estrutura que de um modo muito multifacetado se vai a embrenhar por diversos caminhos. Somos uma equipa criativa que pondera e analisa as suas preocupações pessoais e também se coloca a diversos desafios que a levam por descobertas que cimentam a arte do teatro e mais em concreto a arte da marioneta.
21 anos depois sobressaiu à tona esta forma e figura, num processo longo de descoberta. Atravessámos criações coletivas, convidámos encenadores e demos vozes aos artistas que compõem o núcleo artístico da estrutura. Desta última consideramos que conseguimos alcançar um modo mais clarificador de indicar os potenciais caminhos e percursos de um coletivo composto por escolhas individuais.
