"Data in the Mirror is an interactive installation that explo- res the relationship between the human body, digital activity and its global impact. The project transforms datasets related to internet use, social media use and electronic waste into dynamic visual systems composed of particles, lines, colours and simulated physical beha- viours. Through a real-time body-tracking system, the installation detects the position, movement and structure of the people standing in front of the screens and uses this information to generate a digital rendering of their bodies within the visualization.

The visitor can therefore see themselves reflected in the installation, but not through a live video image or a direct projection of their physical appearance. Their body is re- constructed from tracking data and translated through the visual language of each dataset. Movement, posture and presence influence the distribution, behaviour and structure of the visual elements, while the numerical va- lues contained in the datasets determine qualities such as colour, density, quantity and spatial organization.

By combining quantitative data, real-time rendering and in- teractive simulation, Data in the Mirror transforms statistical information into a spatial and embodied experience. The body becomes both a reflection and an interface, cre- ating a direct connection between individual presence and the wider digital systems in which we participate every day."
