Painted on the last weekend of March, on the newest legal wall in the parish of Ermesinde, Streets of Poetry is a mural that seeks to challenge the notion of space and perspective, involving the viewer in a somewhat surreal and enigmatic scenario.

The lettering "Streets of Poetry", which can be read on the mural, is the name of a documentary I'm currently developing that portrays my 8-year journey as an urban artist. The name reflects how I approach this subculture, seeing the streets as the main stage for the performance and exhibition of our art. We make words and names circulate in the streets like poetry on paper.

The setting itself, based on a photograph I took a few years ago, refers to one of the places I used to paint most often. It was recently demolished. Combined with the central element - the skull - it seeks, in a very subtle and personal way, to highlight the concept of time and that everything has an end, even us.

This art, in the end, is itself ephemeral, so it's up to us to enjoy and make the most of each moment. To fight for what we believe in and aim to make a difference, starting with ourselves.
